TECHNOLOGY
tHE PERIFILTER
System is unique and has no equal in it’s ability to effectively and efficiently separate suspended solids from water.
The use of this advanced technology by industries that are required to pre-treat wastewater allows for more efficiency and less environmental impact in the later stages of the treatment process. The solids are dewatered and concentrated, rendering them more manageable for waste removal.
With the use of the PeriFilter® System, belt presses and filter presses can be eliminated, thus, dramatically lower costs are realized by reducing the number of steps in the common treatment process.
Advantages of The PeriFilter System
The PeriFilter® System’s automatic self-cleaning process eliminates the need for high pressure and high volume compressors to clean the filters.
The most common mechanical dewatering systems include the belt press and the filter press.
The following chart outlines the PeriFilter® System’s competitive advantages over common systems in use.
LIST OF ADVANTAGES
BELT PRESS versus PeriFilter TECHNOLOGY
Item
Belt Filter Press
Perifilter Technology
Labor costs
To properly operate the BFP, it requires constant adjustment and attention
The PeriFilter Technology is Computer Controlled and requires very little attention
airborn contamination
Open process with frequent spills and sprays
Totally enclosed unit with “Cartridge” type filters
Large air handling system is required to eliminate airborne contamination, corrosion and airbonre pathogens
Simple, efficent design requires few parts. Maintenance can be performed by one person
space requirements
More – Higher initial investment in building space. Very Large Footprint.
System can be portable or fixed. Has a small footprint.
maintenance Costs
Many Parts (bearings, belts, doctor blades, shafts, etc.) requires frequent maintenance and adjustment, and can cause shutdown of the machine.
Simple, efficent design requires few parts. Maintenance can be performed by one person
The complex machine can easily become unreliable
Machine is very reliable
Wash Water
The requirement for wash water is substantial. 40 to 110 USGPM at 80 to 130 PSI ( 60,000 – 160,000 USG/day) Avg Cost $222 to $593 per day.
Minimal wash water required for cleaning every 24 hours
Equipment to pretreat this water may be required (Potable Water)
No specific requirements for wash down water
This wash water supply consumes power at a rate of 5 – 14 HP and needs to be considered in the overall analysis
Standard water pressure is all that in required
This wash water poses an additional load on the plant since it must be recycled through the waste water treatment system.
Very little to no additional load
Capture Rate
The capture rate may not be very good (less than 90%), and sometines less than 65%.
A high capture rate is intrinsic in the PeriFilter design and frequent adjustment is not required to maintain it high: 95% or better
It depends how close the BFP is being operated to the optimum conditions.
nalysis of the capture rate needs to take into account both filtrate and wash water.

operation
Not so easy especially for inexperienced operators
Computerized control system analyizes and monitors the complete process to insure optimum performance
The BFP requires continuous adjustment.
Requires minimal operator intervention
partial operations
The entire machine is in operational mode or it is shut down
The PeriFilter Technology is designed with redundancy so it does not need to be shut down (Hot Swap)
shut-down procedure
Thirty (30) minutes to one (1) hour plus time to wash down the belts and structural components for a hygienic environment
Thirty (30) minutes maximum to clean out the entire PeriFilter system

*The PeriFilter System has a significantly smaller footprint compared to a Filter Press, and especially a Belt Press, of equal capacity. Belt Press systems are so large that they may require their own buildings to house them.

Technology Characteristics
An Innovative Liquid & Solid Separation System The PeriFilter® System is a patented, simple and efficient mechanical pump that is able to separate organic matter from water through a semi-permeable, self-cleaning, filtration system. The solids are dewatered and concentrated, rendering them more manageable for waste removal.
This System makes the water treatment and recycling process much more efficient and much less expensive.
